Well done to Malcolm Bent who made it back to back wins. With 12 people fishing the match it was Malcolm who came out on top with a weight of 5lb7oz. It was a close match with only a 1lb3oz separating the top 4 weights. The top 4 weights were:-

The match was fished at matlock bath, with the river being at a decent level for a change. it was expected to fish well! it didn't disappoint.
It was Malcolm Bent who came out on top from Peg 27A behind the PAV. Malc caught 18 grayling for 10lb4oz.. Second place went to Mark Gregory who's first 3 fish were all trout and all weighed above 2lb each. Not the best start when you cant weigh them in, but Mark did catch 11 Grayling once he ...realised that trout didn't count. He weighed 9lb11oz from Peg 35 with 7 grayling weighing more than a pound. Peg 35 is a well known Peg for producing large Grayling if you fancy catching a specimen. Third was Paul Simpson from Peg37 who caught 17 grayling for a weight of 9lb4oz. 12 people fished the match and 7 of them weighed more than 5lb.

FUR AND FEATHER CHRISTMAS MATCH 2014

With a late change having to be made due to the river being to high the match was fished on Tansley pond and Cawdor pond. Not a popular decision with everyone but it was unsafe to fish the river unfortunately. It wasnt ideal because both ponds were frozen over also. With the draw being made at the Red Lion (Matlock green) a good breakfast was enjoyed by all. The draw was delayed by 20 minutes and a later start was made to the match to all...ow the ice to melt a little. Thanks to Asa cooper who smashed the ice up on saturday night and sunday morning. Before the draw was made it was thought that Cawdor pond would be the better pond and produce the winner, mainly due to the large number of carp it contains. Most people were happy to avoid Tansley pond. With Hot peg 20 at cawdor pond being left out, peg19 next to it was the fancied peg to win the match.
Peg 19 didnt disappoint with Peter Hunt winning the match with a weight of 11lb15oz, It could have been a different story for Pete who had lost 5 carp, until the final 30 minutes with nothing in his net Pete left it late to land 3 Carp to take first place from David Greatorex who had drawn Peg10 at Tansley. David recorded a weight of 7lb2oz catching over 80 fish including Rudd and Roach. David caught all day fishing pinkie over bread and also had a bonus Chubb caught on the waggler. Third place went to Paul simpson who had one carp for 4lb13oz.

Both ponds were not at their best with only 19 people weighing in from a field of 34, 5 anglers failed to show for the draw. 18 prizes were up for grabs with the last prize being won with a weight of 1oz. A big thanks to Nigel Ellis, Gary Slack and Asa Cooper for all the hard work in organising the match and hampers.

GEORGE PAGE MEMORIAL 11/08/13.

Thirteen members fished this match, on a bright sunny day with a lot of fish showing before the all in. All anglers caught from the start, but it soon become clear that to frame in the top four, anglers would have to start catching carp. At the end of the five hour match, the angler who came out on top was Asa (The Roach Man) Cooper with 4 carp and a net of silvers for a winning weight of 24lb11oz. Making his return to the match scene after a few years away was James Slack, still showing he was a bit rusty and using a pole that looked like it was made of rubber and despite loosing five carp, he managed to finish a worthy 2nd with 17lb 8oz. Mark Gregory came home in third, with Malc Bent rounding up the top four. Derek Page, son of the late George presented the trophy to the winner, for the second year running ASA (THE ROACH MAN) COOPER , you spoilt a good match catching them carp.
